Hi Y’all!!! Just a reminder that TOMORROW NIGHT our raffle ends at 11:59 p.m., and we will be announcing the winners of our 8 raffle packages sometime over the weekend!!
We are still a distance away from meeting our $1,000 goal, so it’s looking like Tim Bradshaw’s tour jacket (given to him by…
3/1/13 is the last day to enter!!!
Please, writers of self-help/pop-psych/health books, stop it with the hunter/gatherer chapters. The hunter/gatherer chapter usually follows a hugely compelling intro within which you tease your five main secrets to a living a richer life, and it’s a total buzz kill. Nobody will be mad at you if…
Thanks for the laugh, John!
That Samsung Galaxy commercial where the mom and kids are seeing dad off in a taxi cab and she wirelessly sends him a video she warns he “probably shouldn’t watch on the plane” is like a Rorschach test; whatever you think is on that video is exactly what’s on it, and that is how filthy a person you are.
I was thinking the same thing when I saw it over Thanksgiving while at my parents’ house. Take care of yourself, John.
Dear Ann Coulter of the Day: After Ann Coulter referred to President Obama as a retard in a tweet during Monday night’s presidential debate, Special Olympics athlete and global messenger John Franklin Stephens penned her this open letter:
Dear Ann Coulter,
Come on Ms. Coulter, you aren’t dumb and you aren’t shallow. So why are you continually using a word like the R-word as an insult?
I’m a 30 year old man with Down syndrome who has struggled with the public’s perception that an intellectual disability means that I am dumb and shallow. I am not either of those things, but I do process information more slowly than the rest of you. In fact it has taken me all day to figure out how to respond to your use of the R-word last night.
I thought first of asking whether you meant to describe the President as someone who was bullied as a child by people like you, but rose above it to find a way to succeed in life as many of my fellow Special Olympians have.
Then I wondered if you meant to describe him as someone who has to struggle to be thoughtful about everything he says, as everyone else races from one snarkey sound bite to the next.
Finally, I wondered if you meant to degrade him as someone who is likely to receive bad health care, live in low grade housing with very little income and still manages to see life as a wonderful gift.
Because, Ms. Coulter, that is who we are – and much, much more.
After I saw your tweet, I realized you just wanted to belittle the President by linking him to people like me. You assumed that people would understand and accept that being linked to someone like me is an insult and you assumed you could get away with it and still appear on TV.
I have to wonder if you considered other hateful words but recoiled from the backlash.
Well, Ms. Coulter, you, and society, need to learn that being compared to people like me should be considered a badge of honor.
No one overcomes more than we do and still loves life so much.
Come join us someday at Special Olympics. See if you can walk away with your heart unchanged.
A friend you haven’t made yet, John Franklin Stephens Global Messenger Special Olympics Virginia

It’s Day 3 of our “JM BIRTHDAY WEEK” RAFFLE, and so far this raffle has brought in $490 for The Isaac Foundation!!! While that is GREAT, we have 2 problems: 1) we still haven’t brought in enough to offer Tim Bradshaw’s Tour Jacket and 2) we only have 12 people entered into the raffle, and unless…
ANNOUNCING OUR HUGE **JOHN’S BIRTHDAY RAFFLE WEEK** to benefit The Isaac Foundation’s “Project One Million”!!
Donate $35 this week to The Isaac Foundation in honor of John Mayer’s 35th birthday today, and you will have a chance to win some exciting JM merchandise!!! Please review the raffle…
Win John Mayer merch by donating to a great cause John supports.
The Street Team decided that we have to do something SPECIAL for the month of October, since it’s the month that our hero was born!
So, we decided to run our next raffle for the ENTIRE month, and we will also have a special one on the 16th.
Stay tuned tomorrow to hear what we have lined up for…
ANNOUNCING THIS WEEK’S RAFFLE!!
Starting today, we will be raffling off this John Mayer merchandise package to benefit The Isaac Foundation. Please read the instructions carefully, because this blitz is different than the last two.
This package includes:
- An autographed and framed copy of “Born and Raised”
- The new 2013 John Mayer calendar (16 months)
- A B&R sticker/decal
Donate a minimum of $10 to The Isaac Foundation, and you will be entered into this week’s raffle, which ends at midnight EST next Thursday, September 27th. The drawing will take place on Friday, and then another weekly raffle will be announced.
Unlike the past week’s raffle, we WILL be giving you multiple chances to win on this one.
For every $10 you donate, you will get another chance to win. ($5 or other partial amounts are truly appreciated as a donation, but will not count as another chance.)
We weren’t going to offer this one to international participants due to the cost of shipping the frame beyond US borders, but we changed our minds after the uproar among the international members of our own Street Team. And, since The Isaac Foundation is a Canadian organization, that just didn’t seem right.
So, we have to put a disclaimer on this prize. We will ship the signed CD in the frame within the US, but if it is won by an international participant, then we might have to remove it from the frame and ship it just as a signed CD. Our international members assured us that this would be fine with them, since the signed CD is the important part of this gift. This will prevent us having to spend more on shipping than the item is actually worth, and since all of the costs associated with this project are donated by John Mayer fans, we need to keep it reasonable. We promise to throw in some other sort of treat for you, if we need to ship it overseas without the frame.

Please be sure to forward your receipt to us, otherwise we won’t know about your donation and you won’t be entered into the raffle!

Only four more days to enter this raffle. Currently, we have 7 people entered, so each of them has about a 14% chance of winning. We’d love to see more JM fans entered and giving them a little more competition!!
A $5 donation* to The Isaac Foundation gets you a chance to win this package that is worth approximately $50, and you will be helping an organization that is working tirelessly to save children with the rare disease, MPS VI!!! This is a cause that is very dear to John’s heart, as you know.
This is what the package includes:
1 “Where The Light Is” DVD
1 “Queen of California” poster
1 “JCM & Co.” T-shirt (large), and
1 Package of “Battle Studies” Silly Bandz Bracelets.
The raffle ends this Thursday September 20th, at midnight EST.
The winner will be announced on Friday September 21st, and a new blitz will start that day with another great gift package to give away.
